Healthcare cannabis research in Israel started within the 1960s, when recognized Israeli cannabis researcher Raphael Mechoulam regarding the Center for Research on Soreness during the Hebrew University in Jerusalem discovered the properties and framework of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). Mechoulam’s research started with five kilograms of hashish, which he got through the stash confiscated by the authorities.
